Welcome!
Marine Village began as an idea by Porter Reed back in 1960. Tired of his job as a highway foreman, he bought seventeen acres of land along a half mile of shoreline on Lake Champlain and moved his family of six to Plattsburgh from South Glens Falls, New York. Together with his two eldest sons, Buck and Peter, Porter built twenty-five sturdy cottages over the course of two summers. Marine Village Cottages opened for business in 1963 under the idea that the best way for families to come together and relax from the stresses of a busy life is to slow down and spend time with each other.
Not much has changed over the past forty-some years. The Reeds still own and operate the business, and the ideals that it was founded on still remain. Now when you check in at the main office, you'll be greeted by Priscilla, Porter's daughter, and find the same pace of life they found here in the 60's. Try Marine Village Cottages for a relaxing vacation this summer, and you'll see why families have been coming back to us for generations.
