Tips & Details
- We begin our booking sheet in January for the next summer. Call us during the Fall with your reservation requests.
- During July and August our weeks run from 2pm on Sunday to 10am the next Sunday.
- In the off-season, the arrival and departure days can be any day of the week. Arrival time in the off-season is after noon until 5pm and check-out is by 5pm.
- During the off-season, linens for the beds and towels are provided with the rental.
- During the summer months (July and August), we give our guests the option of bringing their own linens and towels or we rent enough for the entire unit for $25/week. Washcloths are not provided.
- There are no phones in the cottages or mobile homes, but we do have a pay phone near the laundromat door. If you have a laptop computer with wi-fi, you can use our wireless access in the office to check your email.
- We have a small coin-operated laundromat near the office.
- Each unit has a picnic table but we don’t provide a grill. We do have some charcoal barbecues available to borrow.
- There’s enough room at each unit to park several vehicles plus a boat or two. There is also an exterior outlet that can be used for charging batteries (bring a long extension cord).
- There is a New York State Boat launch on our bay (1/4 mile away). You need a fishing license to fish Lake Champlain. Vermont and New York agreed to have a dual license available for most of the lake.
- Grocery stores are located in Plattsburgh – exit 37 off Interstate 87.
- Lake Champlain Ferries at Cumberland Head run boats between New York and Vermont all year long, 24 hours a day. The other 2 crossing spots (Port Kent and Essex, New York) have a more limited schedule.
- All units are equipped with a full kitchen: full size range and refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans, silverware, and basic kitchen utensils. We do not provide kitchen towels.
- The bathroom has a full size tub/shower and sink. It is stocked with a few rolls of toilet paper to get you started. You can replenish these at the grocery store.
- Don’t forget to bring your personal sports equipment such as tennis racquet, baseball mitt, kites, fishing pole and lures (although we do sell some items at the office). Board games, card games, jigsaw puzzles also are good ideas. You might also like to pack a VCR/DVD player and some good movies (in case of a rainy day). We do have a basketball, volleyball, soccer ball, baseball and bats, kickballs, and some tennis racquets in the office that you may borrow.
- A flashlight comes in handy. Also an umbrella or poncho.
- Bring disposable cameras for the kids.
- The cottages were built before handicapped accessibility was mandatory. There is one step from the ground to the porch and one step from the porch into the cottage. The french doors can be opened wide to make it easy to get in. We also have some ramps that can be placed where needed. But the bathroom and bedroom doors are not wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
- If you forget something, don’t worry. Plattsburgh is only 20 minutes away and Walmart is always ready to help!
